1989 Mercedes-Benz AMG Evolution.Fully documented,1 of 60 Evolutions delivered to Affalterbach to receive the AMG Power Pack engine giving another 30bhp.Complete with its original stamped AMG engine build papers and detailed service records,offered for sale in exceptional condition throughout.One of the best prepared and presented AMG engined 190 Evolutions anywhere in the world.
Originally supplied new to Mercedes-Benz,Duesseldorf to its original German buyer and spending the first two years of its life in Germany before being specially exported to Japan where it resided with a Japanese collector who lavished it with a money no object maintenance plan with amazingly detailed service records present.Having spent the vast majority of its life being driven and kept in a humid salt free climate it has survived to this day in remarkable condition.
Exterior paintwork is in exceptional condition with no pin dents,arrow straight flanks with no scratches or prior accident or rust repairs. A lack of stone chips, serves to indicate this car wasn't driven hard, either. Brightwork on the roof & window frames isn't faded, which serves to indicate the car hasn't had heavy exposure to UV over the years. Original unmarked 16" Evo1 alloy wheels are in perfect condition fitted with new Avon tyres.Underside has no corrosion whatsoever,this is testament to this car never having been used in winters during it's entire life. Interior is in beautiful condition and includes the original fire extinguisher, torch and first-aid kit, all of which are unused. The hifi is a period-looking Clarion unit (USB compatible) but we have also included a period original hifi, for originality. Fitted floor mats are by Yanase, appointed MB importers for Japan. This car hasn't been smoked in, so it has that characteristic MB leather interior smell. Sunroof works perfectly too. The boot area remains presentable and the original Evolution I spare wheel remains unused - complete with a complete & unused tool kit, jack & warning triangle mounted on the boot lid.
The car has received alot of loving care since arriving to the UK as we are genuine Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts,an extensive pre-delivery inspection has been carried out along with a major service to include engine oil and filter,airfilter,spark plugs,ZH-M fluid flush for the 3-stage ride height adjustable suspension which this car fully retains.Renew gearbox oil.Replace Aux drivebelt.Drain and flush coolant and replace radiator.Upon our original test drive of the car we detected a very slight whine form the diff,some might dismiss this and live with it but being perfectionists and wishing to do things the right way the diff was was removed and with close help from Mercedes-Benz UK who have been fantastic a new correct oe Evolution1 3;46:1 crown and pinion gear was sourced and fitted at great expense from Mercedes-Benz Classic Germany,stamped with the correct Evo1 part number,the result is a silent LSD with perfect power transfer to the rear wheels,just as it would have been when it left the factory.
The 190 AMG Evolution is one of the best drivers cars Mercedes ever produced,the handbuilt and blueprinted AMG Powerpack engine feels strong and hungry for revs and the induction noise along with the sound from the Gruppe full titanium exhaust is sublime and from the first corner this car feels very special indeed,steering is wonderfully weighted providing all the feedback you could want with the chassis feeling light on its feet and eager to change direction and make progress.Ride is compliant yet remaining taut and direct giving plenty of feedback combined with strong grip.The Getrag dogleg gearbox feels strong and rifle bolt precise and once accustomed to the racing pattern becomes second nature to use,a true delight to drive.
